Florida Marsh Rabbits

First time in 30 years we counted 8 rabbits on the trail in Clam Bayou!

The marsh rabbit (Sylvilagus palustris) is a semi-aquatic rabbit from the southeastern U.S. coastal plains, distinguished from cottontails by its darker fur, smaller ears, and a dingy gray-brown tail instead of a white one. It's an excellent swimmer, often found in swamps, marshes, and wetlands, and is known for its ability to swim to escape predators. These herbivorous rabbits are primarily nocturnal but can be seen during the day, feeding on aquatic plants and grasses.
